Roman Eagle Standard pin, it was a symbol that accompanied the Roman legion. It was made of silver or bronze, with outstretched wings. The legion also used as an emblem the acronym SPQR "Senatvs Popvlvs Qve Romanvs", whose translation is "the Senate and the Roman People".

It was instituted by Gaius Marius the last year of the second century BC, the eagle was the symbol of the legion and was the most appreciated standard, the loss of it was considered a disgrace to the legion and to Rome.
